Miss D.C., Anthem Singer Jennifer Corey
Caps fans were treated to the voice of Miss District of Columbia Jennifer Corey before the game against the N.Y. Rangers on Thursday. Ms. Corey, who you can read more about on missdc.org, sang the National Anthem to a packed house at Verizon Center.
And then she went to her seat… in the 400 level. That’s the cheap seats, folks, spitting distance from the nose-bleeds. Why she wasn’t sitting at ice level, in a luxury box, or on the Caps’ bench is shocking. You’d think our country’s patriotic vocalists would receive a warmer reception with a closer view of the action.
Corey, who is originally from Long Island, N.Y., is a Caps fan and hockey lover. She will be competing for Miss America on January 30, 2010.
