After the 2-1 overtime victory against the New York Rangers on Friday, in which Joel Ward scored the game-tying goal for the Capitals, his discussion with the media included praise for the Verizon Center fans. But he also singled out one particular fan: Goat, aka William Stilwell. “Great crowd, obviously. Loud Goat there – he’s screamin’ in the stands. He’s huge.”

This obviously made Goat’s night, and he thanked Ward on Twitter, who was quick to thank him back.

If you’ve ever wondered about home ice advantage and how the crowd feeds into the team’s play, there’s your answer. Go Goat!
