Tom WILSON! Bobblehead Makes Its Long-Awaited Debut

(Caps Outsider)

The Tom Wilson bobblehead was in limbo longer than Hanks was on that island in Castaway.

At long last, Caps fans got their hands on the Tom Wilson wearing a Wilson volleyball bobblehead. To recap: Wilson wore the halloween costume back in 2015, six years ago (while teammate Michael Latta dressed up as Tom Hanks). In 2016, the Capitals held a vote for a stadium giveaway bobblehead, in which Braden Holtby won by a landslide. The other options were Justin Williams with his hair up high, and Wilson wearing his halloween costume. For the 2019-20 season, the Caps announced that Wilson would finally be getting that bobblehead, but Covid-19 changed things. Two season later, and about six years after the original costume, the Caps gave the bobblehead out to fans.

So, these bobbleheads, even after arriving, were sitting in a warehouse for a year and a half. The boxes say 2019-20, collecting dust.

It appears that the Caps ordered 20,520 of these, which is more than the 19,008 they normally order. That means there are extras and will likely be available in other promotions, while supplies last. We’re just speculating on that, though.
