Alex Ovechkin Stanley Cup ‘Word Art’

Washington’s Stanley Cup win didn’t only inspire drunken celebrations, it inspired artists to make commemorative artwork. Here’s a great one we found by Daniel Duffy, drawn in a style he calls ‘word art,’ but sometimes known as pointilism, which are a bunch of small dots that make up a larger image.

It’s obviously a drawing of Alex Ovechkin, but if you look closely, it’s got the handwritten date, score, arena and opponent of every game from the Capitals’s 2018 season. It’s available on his site.

Also check out his other artwork, which includes a scene of Washington D.C., Camden Yards, and Bruce Springsteen.
