Lars Eller will forever go down in DC folklore for scoring the Stanley Cup Winning goal. However, he will also go down in Danish folklore as he became the first player from Denmark to win the Stanley Cup.
According to hockey reference, there have been a total of 13 players in NHL history to hail from Denmark.
There are six other active Danes. Toronto’s Frederik Anderson, Columbus’ Oliver Bjorkstrand, San Jose’s Mikkel Bodeker and Jannik Hansen, Winnipeg’s Nikolaj Ehlers and Detroit’s Frans Nielsen.
