Mitchell’s 400th Game Ends Season For Hershey

Coming into the game, Hershey had nothing to play for other than putting on a good show for the fans.  Wilkes-Barre on the other hand, had playoff seeding to worry about.  Win and they secure home ice in the first round.  Lose and they could slip and give that home ice to Charlotte.

Also noted this was Garrett Mitchell‘s 400th game in a Hershey Bears Jersey.

Before the game started, Zack Fisch (voice of the Hershey Bears) presented season awards to players.  Here were your winners (video below):

  • AHL Man of the Year: Mason Mitchell
  • Kenny Smith Memorial (Player of the Game Award): Pheonix Copley
  • Arlene Tighe Award (Bears Unsung Hero): Liam O’Brien
  • Dan Sernoffsky Most Improved Player: Colby Williams
  • Milton Garland Memorial Award (Best Defenseman): Aaron Ness
  • Jack Gingrich Award (Rookie of the Year): Lucas Johansen
  • PNC Team Most Valuable Player Award: Travis Boyd

The game started fast paced, but the Penguins would put the pressure on quickly as Daniel Sprong would score on the power play.  WBS would score once more before the first period would come to an end to go into the locker room 2-0.

Second period was a tight contest, but Hershey would finally crack the score board with a great pass in front from Jeremy Langlois that reached the stick of Dustin Gazley and he would make no mistake and cutting the deficit to 1.

Third period WBS would score early, from a rebound and an easy tap in for Gage Quinney.  Hershey would make things interesting as Langlois would score on the power play, picking up his second point of the evening.  Hershey would pull the goalie, but could not generate any offense and the game would end 3-2.

After the game, Hershey did a jersey off of their back event to show apperication to the fans.  Everyone who won on a lottery, got a FREE game worn jersey!  Congratulations to the winners!
