Hershey Bears

Bau Scores Twice as Bears Win 6-3 (Photos)

The Laval Rockets come to Hershey for the first time in their history.  This is their second time meeting each other this season.  Hershey went to Laval on February 16th of this year and won 6-3. The game was close until the third period where the Bears exploded with three goals.

This is also the game that Riley Barber got into a fight at the end of the game when Markus Eisenschmid of Laval, laid out Travis Boyd with no time remaining.  Barber did not approve of the hit and took matters into his own hands.  This landed him a suspension later that week.

Pheonix Copley gets the start for Hershey tonight in his return from Washington.

1st Period:

The period started with Hershey all over Laval.  The Bears were out shooting the Rockets 7-1 before Mathias Bau scored his 10th goal of the season.  It was set up from Chris Bourque with a great cross crease pass.

Laval would gather their composer and capitalize on Hershey’s mistakes.  A breakaway from Nikita Korostelev would score his first goal of the season as he got one pas Colpey’s glove.

About thirty seconds later, Garrett Mitchell would get a pass from Aaron Ness in the slot while he was wide open.  A quick shot as it caught Laval’s goaltender, Charlie Lingren off guard, goes into the net, giving the Bears a 2-1 lead.

Forecheck

Laval would get a shot to tie the game on a power play, which has been one bright spot of their season.  Adam Cracknell would score his 27th goal of the year after he was wide open in front of the net.  He would pick up the rebound for the easy tap in.

Both teams would go into the locker room with questions about their defense and with a 2-2 tie.

The connection of Gazley and Simpson would makes it way back onto the score sheet when Wayne Simpson would score his 14th off of the stick of Gazley.

Mistakes in the neutral zone would cost the Bears once again as they would give up another breakaway to the Rockets.  This time, the puck would hop over Jonas Seignethaler’s stick and send Antoine Waked free as he would get one past Copley.  This would be his 6th goal of the year.
