Caps Honor Alex Ovechkin for Games Played Record

(Caps Outsider)

On Monday, Alex Ovechkin passed Calle Johansson as the all-time leader in games played for the Washington Capitals. Back in D.C. for Tuesday’s game against the Senators, the Caps took a moment to honor the Great 8 for his 984 games, one better than the longtime defenseman and former coach of Ovi, Johansson.

It was also the first time in a long time that Ovechkin broke a Caps record by someone other than Peter Bondra.

The Caps posted a video Monday of Johansson congratulating Ovechkin on the team record.

Next milestones for Ovi: 600 goals and soon, 1,000 games played.
