Congratulations, Nicklas Backstrom, on 200 Career Goals
(Caps Outsider)
Caps center Nicklas Backstrom scored his 200th career regular season NHL goal on Tuesday, which was also the game-winner in a 3-2 win against Columbus.
Backstrom has 12 goals in 52 games so far this season, a far cry from his season-best 33 in 82 games back in 2009-2010. But obviously, Backstrom’s bread-and-butter is his playmaking, as he’s already the all-time Caps leader in assists.
Backstrom is no. 5 in Caps’ history in goals. He’ll most certainly pass Mike Ridley for 4th all-time, but he likely won’t climb much higher as no. 3 Mike Gartner’s total is about twice as many.
Regardless, congratulations, Backstrom, on career goal 200. Here’s to many more.
1. | Alex Ovechkin | 590 |
2. | Peter Bondra | 472 |
3. | Mike Gartner | 397 |
4. | Mike Ridley | 218 |
5. | Nicklas Backstrom | 200 |
