Travis Boyd Gets Called up to Washington

The Washington Capitals announced today that they have recalled forward Travis Boyd from the Hershey Bears.

Boyd has 27 points (8 goals, 19 assists) in 37 games for Hershey this season which ranks him second on the team.  Along with those stats, he also ranks second on the team with 4 power play goals.

In his career with Hershey, Boyd has played 191 regular season game. During this time, he has collected 145 points (46 goals, 19 assists).

This is Boyd’s second call up to the Capitals this season.  He made his NHL debut on December 4th versus the San Jose Sharks.

Boyd was the 177th overall (sixth round) pick in the 2011 NHL Draft.

Boyd gets the call up due to Andre Burakovsky coming down with an illness and unable to travel to Carolina with the team.  After this game, the Capitals go on their week break and it is expected for Boyd to return to the Hershey Bears during this time.
