(Caps Outsider)

After several years playing in Hershey, Australian Nathan Walker made his NHL debut Saturday, becoming the first player from that continent in the league. He even scored a goal in the Caps’ 6-1 win, though it was anti-climatic because the goal was originally credited to Devante Smith-Pelly before it was changed.

As usual with a new player, the Caps let Walker out first for opening warm-ups, leaving him alone to skate a few laps before everyone else joined him. Walker was the second star of the game, behind Ovechkin. Walker’s family was there and even fans carrying Australian flags.
