Celebrating an Ovechkin Hat Trick Again

(Caps Outsider)

Alex Ovechkin scored his second hat-trick in as many periods of hockey Saturday, notching one in the first period against Montreal after scoring one against Ottawa on Thursday in the third period.

Oh, and he scored again in the second period, for his fourth goal of the game.

His 19th hat trick ties him with Peter Bondra for the franchise lead. Check out our Caps hat trick database to see a note about each of them.

With six goals in two games, Ovechkin is on pace for 246 goals and zero assists this season. He’ll see if he can keep it up.

The crowd had a delayed response to Ovi’s third goal, as it looked at first that Evgeny Kusnetsov scored it, but it deflected off of Ovi’s stick. Ovi clearly celebrated as if he scored it but the crowd, though celebrating the goal, didn’t start throwing hats until several moments later.
