Caps Re-Sign Nathan Walker

Walker (Caps Outsider)

The Caps have signed Nathan Walker to a two-year, two-way contract. Walker was set to be a restricted free agent this summer. Walker would make $650K in the NHL and $125K in the AHL with $150K guaranteed in 17-18 and $175K in 18-19.

Walker, 23, is a native of Sydney, Australia and is looking to become the first Australian to make it to the NHL. He was the first Australian drafted in the NHL when he was the the Caps’ third round pick in 2014.

Walker has been in Hershey since 2013, and also spent six games with South Carolina in the 2014-2015 season. Last year he had 11 goals, 12 assists for 23 points in 58 games despite missing time with an injury. In the 2015-2016 season he had 41 points in 73 games. In the playoffs this year, he had six points in 12 games.

With Nathan Walker’s style of play, I can see him playing on the Caps 4th line next year along side Beagle and Wilson. You can see the full press release here.
