Ovechkin’s Skates Sell for $9500

(Photos by Caps Outsider)

Those super awesome custom painted skates that Alex Ovechkin wore for Russian Heritage Night on Thursday sold for $9,500 on handbid.com. Caps Outsider vastly underestimated the amount they would sell for, as we found the quality of the artwork by shoe artists Nick Avery and Polo Kerber to be priceless (which is equivalent of a bazillion dollars). The proceeds will benefit  .

Congratulations to the winner. You have way more money that most people, and now get to go to public skating sessions or games with undoubtedly the coolest skatewear on the rink.

We took these photos on Thursday when Ovechkin wore them for warmups. See more photos here.
