Capitals Better Halves Gift Basket Auction

One of our favorite annual traditions with the Capitals is the “Better Halves Gift Basket Auction” organized by and supporting the MSE Foundation. While it is one of the only dates on the schedule we can take WAG photos without appearing creepy, it’s also a great fundraiser, and we can tell these ladies put great effort into their baskets. The themed gift baskets contain some of the players’ favorite things, autographed items and jerseys.

The gift baskets are a great window into the lives of our favorite players. They give us information about their favorite snacks, like Tom Wilson’s Kraft Macaroni & Cheese, Jay Beagle’s Lay’s Ketchup Potato Chips, or John Carlson’s fine collection of alcohol. Or how about favorite movies including Matt Niskanen (Grumpy Old Men), Brett Connolly (Happy Gilmore), or Andre Burakovsky (Step Brothers). You can see all of this years baskets in our gallery below :

The baskets were joined by additional items for “Hockey is For Everyone” month, including warm-up used sticks with Pride Tape, and a special game-used mask from Braden Holtby. Those items were being auctioned off to support the You Can Play Project.

You can see all of the baskets in greater detail along with the prices they fetched at auction at the Handbid page.
