Caps Look for 1500th Franchise Win

Expect Philipp Grubauer to get some games coming up. (Caps Outsider)

Coming off a dominating 6-0 win over the Chicago Blackhawks Friday, the Washington Capitals will look to make it nine in a row Sunday afternoon against Philadelphia.

The Flyers will come into town having lost their last eight in a row on the road. This includes a 6-3 loss to the Bruins on Saturday in Boston. Former Cap Michael Neuvirth manned the net in that loss so expect the Flyers to turn to Steve Mason against the Caps.

Head coach Barry Trotz rolled all four lines against Chicago. Since the Caps also play Pittsburgh on Monday, expect Trotz to do the same Sunday. In terms of goaltending split, I would expect Phillip Grubauer to get the Flyers game and Braden Holtby to man the crease on Monday.

The Caps need to do exactly what they have been doing recently. Start out strong, capitalize on the tiredness of the Flyers. Doing so will allow Trotz to keep everyone fresh. The Caps did recall Chandler Stephenson , however do not expect him to play. He was recalled mainly for depth in case there is an injury on the road.
