Caps Look to Extend Win Streak to 8

Oshie had to skate laps for taking too many penalties on Wednesday. (Caps Outsider)

The Caps host the Blackhawks on Friday, aiming to win their 8th game in a row. Fresh off a physical and emotional 5-2 win over the Penguins on Wednesday, it’ll be interesting to see how the Caps play another top tier opponent.

Chicago comes in having won four in a row. They currently sit atop the Central Division and are third in the NHL behind only the Caps and Blue Jackets. The Blackhawks are lead by Patrick Kane who has 45 points in 44 games and Artemi Panarin who has 42 points in the 44 games.

Something to watch for is how disciplined the Caps are. After a penalty-filled game for TJ Oshie, he skated laps at practice as punishment. Also from practice, John Carlson left early with a lower body injury but is not expected to miss the game.

Milestone watch: Barring an injury at morning skate or during warm-ups, Karl Alzner is expected to play in his 500th consecutive game.
