Congratulations, Nicklas Backstrom, on 500 Career Assists

Congratulations to Caps center Nicklas Backstrom for reaching the 500 assist milestone. Backstrom, who is already Washington’s all-time assist leader, assisted on T.J. Oshie‘s first period goal against the Senators on Saturday, which proved to be the winner. Here it is:

Among other Swedish players, Backstrom is already in the top 10 for assists. He’s the second fastest Swede to record 500 assists behind Peter Forsberg, and third fastest behind active players, trailing only Jaromir Jagr and Sidney Crosby.
