Hershey Drops Heartbreaker in OT

The Hershey Bears were looking to sweep the weekend tonight at Giant Center when the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins came to town.
After killing 9 of 9 penalties the night before, the Bears PK killed four more tonight which put the total up to 13 killed penalties in two games. Hershey’s Zach Sill also returned to the lineup after he was sidelined by injury.
Hershey’s Jakub Vrana, Liam O’Brien and Christian Thomas all found their way to the score sheet tallying goals. In total, eight different Hershey skaters were on the score sheet tonight.
Unfortunately for the Bears, a late comeback by the Penguins would tie the game late in the 3rd period, when Captain Tom Kostopoulous scored with 1:04 left. In OT the WBS Carter Rowney scored to end the game. The Pens took the game 4-3.
Joe Cannata got the start in net for the Bears tonight. Coming into tonight’s game, Cannata had a record 5-1-2.
Vrana scored his ninth of the season tonight. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him up with the Capitals sometime this season. Earlier today, Paul Carey was called up by the Caps due to injuries sustained Friday night against the Red Wings. Carey has 13 points on the season (4 goals, 9 assists) which will help the Caps while they try to shake the “injury bug”.
Next week the Bears return to action Wednesday night at Giant Center in a rematch of tonight’s contest against the Penguins. Hershey will be looking to have a different outcome after the disappointing loss tonight.
