Hershey’s PK Dominates Against Syracuse

The Hershey Bears returned to Giant Center Friday night after winning 4-2 over Utica on Wednesday.

Tonight the Bears hosted the Syracuse Crunch for the first time this season. Thanks to a great effort by the penalty kill unit and goaltender Vitek Vanecek, the Bears took tonight’s contest 5-1.

The penalty kill for the Bears was outstanding this evening killing all nine, yes nine, power play chances by Syracuse this evening.

Vanecek stopped 23 of 24 shots he faced tonight to improve his record to 3-3-1 on the season with a 0.924 SV% with a 2.16 GAA.

Unfortunately, the win did not come without any setbacks. Bears defenseman Madison Bowey went to the dressing room during the game and did not return. The Bears have been hit with the “injury bug” as described by Head Coach Troy Mann. With players like Zack Sill, Aaron Ness, Riley Barber, Dustin Gazley, and Stanislav Galiev out with injuries, the Bears cannot afford to lose anymore players on the roster.

The Bears return to action at Giant center tomorrow night against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Peguins.
