Caps Prepare for Avalanche

The Caps are gearing up to face the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday at Verizon Center in their third game of the season. Colorado won last night in overtime against the Penguins. 4-3. Former capital Semyon Varlamov is expected to start in goal for the Avalanche.
From line rushes at practice on Monday, it appears as if Brett Connolly will make his Capitals debut. Connolly, 24, had 25 points in 71 games for Boston last season, and was drafted sixth overall by Tampa Bay in 2010.
The Caps will also be honoring Braden Holtby for his accomplishments from last season including winning the Vezina Trophy.
Something to watch for Tuesday is the Capitals’ power play, which started the season 0-8. Look for the Caps to simplify the power play and get pucks to the net.
