Player to Watch: Madison Bowey

(M. Richter)

Defenseman Madison Bowey was drafted 53rd overall back in 2013. He spent a year in juniors with the Kelowna Rockets before signing with Washington and going to the Hershey Bears.

In his last season with the Rockets, Bowey recorded 60 points in 58 games during the regular season while being +38. This was his second year recording 60 points. That spring, Bowey recorded 19 points in 19 playoff games, once again being a point per game player in the playoffs.

Last year with Hershey, Bowey had 29 points in 70 games played and was +22. In the playoffs, he had 6 assists in 21 games as the Bears made it to the Calder Cup Finals.

Bowey is showing promise, but don’t expect him to play much, if any, in Washington this coming season. I see him as the Caps 9th defenseman behind Aaron Ness. Unless the Caps have some injury trouble on the blue line, expect him to be in Hershey this season.

Bowey may not be with the Caps this season, but he is a player to watch. If he has a great camp, and a great season with Hershey, do not be surprised to see him rocking the red in the 2017-2018 season.
