Caps Face Bruce Boudreau and the Ducks

The Caps return to Verizon Center on Sunday after a dominant 5-1 win over the Blues for one last game before the playoffs. The Caps will look to show that they are the team to beat in the east with a another dominant performance against a playoff team.

The Ducks come in having everything to play for. If they win, they will win the Pacific Division. The Caps will need to be ready once again to face a team that is going all out. If the Caps can come out of the first period with a multi-goal lead, they may take all the energy out of the Ducks and come out with a victory. Expect nothing except the Ducks best even though they are coming off a 5-3 win in Denver.

There is actually one thing up for grabs: The William M. Jennings Trophy, which goes to the team with the fewest goals allowed. The Caps have 191, the Ducks have 192, and the Kings have 195.

The Caps will be accepting the Presidents’ Trophy and will also have a pregame ceremony to honor Justin Williams as he will play game number 1000. Barry Trotz has said this game will not be a dress rehearsal, so do not expect him to show his cards even with the Caps knowing they’ll play the Flyers in the first round. However, Trotz had said Taylor Chorney and Mike Weber would both play this weekend, so expect Chorney to be in. This has been a regular season to remember. Enjoy this game, and get ready for the postseason.
