Caps Honor Holtby for Team Wins Record

(Caps Outsider)

The Capitals paid tribute to goaltender Braden Holtby on Friday for breaking the team’s record for most wins in a season with 42, which he accomplished on Tuesday with a 2-1 victory against the Hurricanes.

During the first period against the Predators, the Caps played a short tribute video and longtime goalie Olaf Kolzig spoke. Kolzig previously shared the team record with Holtby.

“What took you so long?” Kolzig said in the video. “The way you were going, I thought you woulda had this done in January.”

Holtby’s next milestone is Martin Brodeur‘s all-time goalie record with 48 wins in a season, which he did in 2006-07. With plenty of games to play, that record is well within range.
