Caps Salute the Military… and Sled Hockey Shootout!

During the second intermission of Thursday’s Caps game, the Caps hosted a shootout exhibition with the USA Warriors sled hockey team and the USA National sled hockey team. Each member took a shot. It was part of the According to the Caps, more than 500 military members attended the game.

The Caps themselves wore camouflage jerseys for pre-game warmups and auctioned them off with the proceeds going to benefit the USO-Metro and Defending the Blue Line. They raised

Lance Corporal Josh Misiewicz, of the sled hockey team, dropped the puck for the ceremonial face-off with New York’s John Tavares and Alex Ovechkin.

Master. Sgt. Caleb Green (Ret.) and the Military District of Washington’s U.S. Army Band Quartet performed the national anthem, while the Caps’ youth hockey flag tunnel and mites on ice included players from Navy Youth Hockey.

The Caps also continued selling Courage Caps and T-shirts to support TAPS – Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors.
