2015 Hershey Hall of Fame

HERSHEY, PA — Since he was not at his regular job with NBC, NHL on NBC play-by-play voice Mike “Doc” Emerick paid a visit to the GIANT Center Sunday night. He was on hand to introduce the Hershey Bears Hockey Club Hall of Fame Class of 2015. Let’s meet the inductees:

ROGER DeJORDY

DeJordy played all eight (1962-70) of his AHL seasons in Chocolate Town, posting 222 career goals for fifth in club history in 531 games. He is tied for seventh all-time in points at 448. The St. Hyancinthe, Quebec native became the first Bear to score 50 goals in one season with 52 in 1966-67. Two years later, he helped win the Calder Cup.

HOWIE YANOSIK

In ten seasons (1957-67), Yanosik made himself known as an offensive-minded defender. From Bracken, Saskatchewan, Yanosik is second in club history with points among defensemen (272), assists among defenders (220), and goals (52), and fourth in overall games played (605). The 1958-59 Calder Cup winner is one of four players in team history to play over 600 games in the Chocolate and White.

LARRY ZEIDEL

“The Rock,” as he is known, played for Hershey between 1955-63, racking up 1,335 penalty minutes and 218 points in 517 games played. He won two Calder Cups with the Bears in 1957-58 and 1958-59 as well as one with the Cleveland Barons in 1963-64. In his 158 game NHL career, he won the Stanley Cup with the 1951-52 Detroit Red Wings and played 57 games for the expansion Philadelphia Flyers.

WILLIAM “SCOTTY” ALEXANDER

Remember Brett Leonhardt? The Caps emergency goaltender that one night? Well, Alexander was that guy for Hershey one night during the 1953-54 season, except he played the whole game at the age of 45. He held the record as the oldest player in AHL history until 46-year-old Chris Chelios played with the Grand Rapids Griffins in 2008-09. The long-time (1945-73) Bears trainer and practice goalie is remembered as one of the more colorful characters to ever work in the organization.
