Nate Schmidt on Critiquing Moustaches

We caught a photo of Schmidt not smiling, one of the rarest sights ever. (Caps Outsider)

On Caps Red Line recently, several Capitals got the chance to ‘critique’  the ‘Top 5 Caps Moustaches’ of all time, a segment they made for Movember. One of the folks interviewed was Caps defenseman Nate Schmidt.

“I looked at a couple when I was in college but nothing to the extent that I had here lately,” Schmidt said of his past moustache-critiquing experience.

Aside from Schmidt, Karl Alzner, John Carlson, Jay Beagle, Braden Holtby and Wes Johnson gave their input.

As usual, Schmidt was the most spirited personality in the video. We asked him why he was picked.

“You can see my moustache,” Schmidt pointed to his upper lip. “You can think this is an established thing. Just kidding, it’s terrible.”

So, seriously Nate, why were you picked for this video?

“Colorful,” Schmidt muttered.

“Who’s more colorful than you?” I said.

“Your words, not mind,” Schmidt laughed.

Caps Outsider’s favorite part of the video comes at the 2:42 mark. “That’s kind of the greatest picture I’ve ever seen,” Schmidt said when shown the Capitals Outsider photo of Alzner hanging from a harness at Six Flags a couple of years ago.
