Tale of the Tape: Michael Latta vs. Tyler Randell

Michael Latta: Height – 6-foot-0, Weight – 207 lbs., 10 career NHL regular season fights.

Tyler Randell: Height – 6-foot-1, Weight – 198 lbs., 0 career NHL regular season fights.

Verizon Center, Nov. 5, 2015. 13:07 into the second period. Caps up 3-1

“Now watch me whip, now watch me watch me nae nae,” Michael Latta sang along to his normal pre-game warm up dance.

It’s become the norm Latta. Before every single game, he puts on Silentó’s famous hit, and he dances his little heart out.

“Oooh, watch me, watch me. Oooh, watch me, watch me. Oooh watch me, watch me. Ooh oooh oooh ooh.”

Latta was in the zone, per usual.

But just as Latta was about to do the stanky leg, he heard Drake’s Hotline Bling faintly in the background.

Everyone in the Caps organization knows to just leave Latta alone when he’s doing the whip and nae nae. Who was messing with him?

He paused his mixtape consisting of three hours of Silento’s hit, and went to investigate the source of the sound.

He eventually stumbles upon the Boston Bruins locker room. He can hear Drake’s soothing voice creeping through the door.

Latta kicks open the door, it’s the only way he knows how. And what does he see?

Tyler Randell doing the worst impression of Drake’s questionable dance moves he’d ever seen.

He’s dead, Latta thought to himself.

So deep into the third period, Latta saw his opportunity to wreck the guy who ruined his pre-game dance routine. So he dropped the gloves, and it was on.

Randell threw the first punch after the two came together. He tried to sneak in a uppercut, but was caught by surprise by a Latta right hook. Randell quickly tries to answer with two right hooks of his own. Latta gives him a quick answer, but overcommits and loses body positioning to Randell. Randell sees his opportunity and starts teeing off. Latta desperately answers with two big hooks of his own, but he again overcommits and Randell knocks him to the ground.

And….the winner is….TYLER RANDELL.

Fine, you get the win, but next time, can you please not mess with Latta’s nae naeing?
