Congratulations Jeff Halpern

Jeff Halpern (Alena Schwarz)

Longtime Capital and Potomac, Maryland native, Jeff Halpern became the director of player development for the Syracuse Crunch, the Tampa Bay Lightning’s AHL affiliate.

Halpern last played with Phoenix in the 2013-14 season. At 39, though he hadn’t yet called it a career, he was an unsigned free agent since Phoenix, but hasn’t landed another gig..

Halpern had two stints with the Washington Capitals. The first was from 1999-2000 until the 2005-2006 season. Halpern returned for one season in 2011-2012. He also became a face of the team on September 23, 2005 when he became the captain. As a native to the DC metro area, the Caps couldn’t have picked a better player to represent the team.

Halpern looks to have finished with a career stat line of 152 goals 221 assists for a total of 373 points in 976 career games. In the playoffs he recorded 7 goals and 7 assists for 14 points in 39 playoff games. These numbers helped him earn the honor of being named one of the Caps 40 best players.
Congrats Jeff on your new gig. I wish you the best of luck.
