Goodbye and Best of Luck, Mike Green

(Caps Outsider)

After ten seasons with the Washington Capitals, Mike Green will not be returning next season (update: He signed with Detroit), according to CSN. Although this was to be expected, it still hurts. There are two Green moments I will never forget.

On April 11, 2008, Green scored twice in the third period of Game One against the Flyers. This was the first playoff game I had ever seen live.

Below is another Green accomplishment I will never forget – his record for most consecutive games scoring a goal for a defenseman, which he set in 2009. This was an amazing regular season, filled with career highs for many players. Green finished as a Norris finalist for that season and the next.

Green has had some great times with the Caps. He obtained the nick name “Game over Green” for his fabulous work in overtime. Those extra points are more important now then ever before. Goodbye and good luck Mike.
