Alzner Is Caps Movember Captain

It’s Movember time again! This year, the Capitals’ Movember team captain is none other than defenseman Karl Alzner. Though Troy Brouwer was the Movember captain last season, which led to perhaps the only Movember-themed hockey bobblehead ever, Alzner has always been the most vocal and active participants in the annual effort, especially when he did it during the lockout.

For those of you who don’t know about Movember, we’ll let the Caps sum it up:

Movember is the annual charity event that engages men to grow, and women to support, a Mo for the 30 days of November to raise awareness and funds for men’s health issues including prostate and testicular cancer and mental health. Supporters, called Mo Bros and Mo Sistas, get friends, family and colleagues to donate to their efforts along the way. Participants begin with a clean shaven face on Nov. 1, and then grow and groom a moustache for the next 30 days.

Participating Capitals this year:

  • Karl Alzner
  • Troy Brouwer
  • Andre Burakovsky
  • John Carlson
  • Evgeny Kuznetsov
  • Jack Hillen
  • Michael Latta
  • Liam O’Brien
  • Alex Ovechkin
  • Justin Peters
  • Nate Schmidt
  • Aaron Volpatti
  • Tom Wilson

Note that last season, Ovechkin wasn’t with the Caps – he was on Team Gillette.
