Verizon Center Selling Caps Bobblehead of the Month

The store at Verizon Center is now selling a ‘Verizon Center Exclusive, Bobble of the Month,’ the first in a series of themed bobbleheads of the Caps mascot Slapshot, this time dressed as a mummy for Halloween. Only 150 are available, and a new one will be released each month through April.

By the silhouettes of the future bobbleheads alone, it’s clear that they’re all themed with something that people aren’t going to be fighting over come the holidays. I’ll go out on a limb and guess November has a Thanksgiving theme and December has a Christmas theme. It also looks like April has an Easter theme, because… bunny ears.

While ultimately rare, these Forever Collectibles bobbles come with a price tag of $45 each, meaning you’ll drop $315 plus tax to collect them all, which is a far cry from the free stadium and blood drive giveaways that typically aren’t aimed just at kids.

Just to do a little math here, with 150 per month, the total value of this project is $47,250, minus Forever Collectibles’ fees and other costs, meaning Verizon Center is ultimately making ~$30 grand off of these, while parents who buy these for their kids will ultimately be stuck with them in storage for decades.
