Who Are Caps Fans Rooting for Now?

(Caps Outsider)

While disappointed Caps fans saw the 2013-2014 season come to an end last Sunday, they are finally beginning to shake off the inevitable state of denial and frustration.   They are looking forward to the NHL playoffs.   Certainly, not as much as they would if the Caps were in the mix, but a hockey fan is a hockey fan.  The playoffs will provide the Caps faithful with a much needed hockey fix as they watch teams shoot, check, and battle their way to the Stanley Cup Championship.

Clarksville, MD resident Meezan Hassan Ford attended the last game and still considers it a memorable experience.

‘I didn’t get to see Greenie play and the Caps didn’t score any goals; however, I was still happy to be there to support them,” Ford said.  “It was nice to see the diehard fans stay until the end and clap for them even though they lost.  I’m sure their usual salute to the fans was difficult, but I always appreciate that.”

“I’m not sure who will win the cup,” Ford continued.  “I’m also a Patrick Kane fan, so when the Caps aren’t playing, I usually root for the Blackhawks.  I’m really looking forward to just watching some good, competitive playoff hockey.”

Toby Hyder of Laurel, MD is an avid Caps fan.  He will be pulling for any team that ends up playing against the Pittsburg Penguins.

“I will watch the playoffs but not to the extent that I would if the Caps were involved.  As much as I don’t think the Caps would have gone past their normal first round exit, I still would’ve have liked to follow the series ‘cause you never know.  Nothing beats watching a Stanley Cup playoff series when your team is involved,” said Hyder.  “I also wouldn’t mind seeing Bruce Boudreau win a Cup with Anaheim.  I still think he got a raw deal here from GMGM and Ted.”

And, of course, no glimpse into the playoffs would be complete without the expert opinion of our recently relocated furry friend, Ovie the Bulldog.  Now residing in San Diego, CA, Ovie was very disappointed that the Caps didn’t make the playoffs, but he can see the Cup at the end of the tunnel.

“I feel this might be the best in the long run,” barked Ovie.  “Hoping the changes that should be coming will help the team to re-establish their identity and bring DC the Stanley Cup in the coming years.”

The loveable canine superfan will be watching the playoffs as much as NHL Gamecenter will broadcast the games.

“For the playoffs, I’m pulling for my ‘local’ teams in Anaheim/LA,” he added with a playful woof.  “I’d love to see Bruce/Matty P/Teemu win a Cup.”

Many Caps fans continue their love affair with Bruce Boudreau and revel in the memories of Caps gone by.  Consequently, the Ducks are getting a lot of support in Washington, DC.  What do you think?  Who do you want to win the Stanley Cup?   Vote now!
