Players

Goodbye, Neuvy

It’s always a bittersweet moment when a (relatively) longtime Capital leaves the team. Michal Neuvirth, who the Caps traded to Buffalo on Wednesday, is one of those players who deserves a wave goodbye and a round of applause the next time he shows up at Verizon Center. In the Caps’ system since 2008, Neuvirth won the Calder Cup with the Hershey Bears in 2009 and 2010. He played 134 total games in Washington.

Even when he wasn’t playing, Neuvirth puts his quirky personality on display, like when he threw his hat onto the ice after an overtime win back in November, and his obsessive devotion to updating his Facebook page (yes, he’s already added Sabres images to it). Neuvy was always a pleasure to interview and we’ll miss him here in Washington, and we wish him the best of luck.
