The Royals Olympic Tribute and Other Specialty Jerseys
The Royals can pretend they’re Olympians as they sport these beauties.
The Reading Royals have been notorious for showing of special jerseys throughout the years, whether they be a tribute to another team, such as the Caps, or just for a holiday or event. This year, the Royals have gone even further with their specialty jerseys, releasing nine different ones that they’ll wear at some point. So far, they have shown off special Kelly Cup jerseys, which were worn in the home opener, and frightful Halloween jerseys, but there is much more to come. Let’s take a look at what the Royals will be showing off and when you can get a chance to see them play in them.
As most of you already know, the Royals will be celebrating Christmas on December 14th when they take on the Elmira Jackals. These beautifully ugly jerseys come equipped with reindeer and Christmas trees in festive red a green colors, just in time for the holidays. These jerseys, unlike most, are available outside of purchasing game-worn jerseys, however they come at quite the price. For no more than $1000 dollars this jersey can be yours, along with 50 tickets to the game. Click this link for more details on how to get you hands on one.
Also mentioned before on Capitals Outsider, the Royals will sport yet again another Capitals-themed jersey, this time modeled after the Capitals 2011 Winter Classic jerseys. As this may be the last year the Caps continue with their third jerseys as they will be hosting a Winter Classic of their own, the Royals wanna make sure they get the chance to sport these these when they take on the Kalamazoo Wings on December 28th.
Not wanting their other affiliates to feel left out, the Royals also decided that they would pay tribute to the Hershey Bears, their AHL parent team. With the layout similar to the regular Royals jerseys, this one has the colors of your Bears. This chocolate-covered jersey will be worn by your Royals when they take on the Elmira Jackals on January 12th.
Next up in a tribute jersey for nearby college Penn State. Themed with Penn State’s white and blue colors and a very nice white lion on the front of the jersey the Royals will be showing these beauty’s off on January 18th when they take on the Toledo Walleye
While the big boys are suiting up for the international stage, your Reading Royals will still be hard at work trying to make their way to the Kelly Cup playoffs. In honor of the Olympics, the Royals will wear Olympic-themed jerseys. With flags of nations displayed around the hips and wrists of the jersey, a map of the world sublimated in the front and back, and a gold medal hanging around their neck with the signature Reading Royals lion in the center, these jerseys will be a must-see when the Royals take on the Wheeling Nailers on either February 8th or 9th.
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Royals will wear a pink and purple-themed jersey to help support the cause. Covered in dark pink ribbons with a light pink background, you won’t wanna miss the Royals play is these great jerseys while supporting an even greater cause when they take on the Evansville Icemen on February 15th.
Last but not least, the Royals will be showing off their “St. Hat Trick” jerseys in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. These bright green jerseys covered in clovers will hopefully bring the Royals luck when they take on the Elmira Jackals on March 15th.
