Carlson and Alzner Fight Against Animal Cruelty

Washington Capitals’ defensemen John Carlson and Karl Alzner are among the latest “tough guys” to join the ongoing list of professional athletes, entertainers, news anchors, police officers and veterinarians to pose for pictures with adorable dogs and cats to promote the “Show Your Soft Side” campaign. Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and members of the Mayor’s Anti-Animal Abuse Advisory Council launched the campaign in September 2011 to target young people to reduce the high incidence of animal abuse and neglect in Baltimore. According to Mayor Rawlings-Blake, the posters are displayed on billboards in and around Baltimore to show kids that abusing a helpless animal is a sign of weakness, not strength.

Other notable athletes joining Carlson and Alzner include Baltimore Orioles Adam Jones and Matt Wieters, Baltimore Raven Torrey Smith, and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighters Dave Daniecki and John Rallo.

Lubow photography took the precious pics. Referred to as ‘a work in progress’, the ongoing list of “tough guys” can be seen at lubowphotography.com.
