Tom Wilson Fights Patrice Cormier

Caps rookie Tom Wilson dropped the gloves in the first period with Winnipeg’s Patrice Cormier on Tuesday, answering for a hit earlier in the shift on Michael Frolik. Unfortunately for fans not in attendance, there wasn’t much of the fight to see on video other than a wicked swing by Wilson before the two ended up on the ice. Perhaps less is more, though, as apparently some looked too much into the video of Steve Oleksy‘s fight against Brandon Dubinsky the other night, starting a rumor that Dubinsky bit Oleksy (which he did not).

The Caps did, however, get a power play out of the situation as Cormier took an extra unsportsmanlike conduct minor, which all teams know isn’t a good idea against the top ranked power play in the NHL. The Caps, however, failed to score.
