Tom Wilson Is Crushing It in the Preseason

Tom Wilson may only be 19 years old, but he’s doing everything in his power to make the Washington Capitals’ roster as soon as possible. During Friday’s game against the Chicago Blackhawks, Wilson scored another goal and once again showed off his physical play with a fight against Kyle Beach.

“I know what I need to do,” Wilson said after the game. Though the Caps lost 5-4 in a shootout, Wilson’s effort wasn’t lost on his teammates.

“He’s a hard worker, he is physical, so far he has done a great job and he’s chipped in,” Karl Alzner said.

Even before this game, Coach Adam Oates stated that he’d like to keep Wilson around. If he’s not with the Capitals, he’s back to his junior team, the Plymouth Whalers of the OHL.

All things considered, no one should be surprised if the Caps make room for Wilson. His big body and physical play he can make a huge difference in games that few other Caps can do on their own.
