Ovie the Bulldog Ejected From Fan Fest

Fans came out for hockey and fun at the Kettler Capitals Iceplex Saturday to take part in Fan Fest 2013. While most of the fans were of the “human” variety, one fan really stood out as… well… different. Fans know him as the loveable canine that cheers on the Caps in front of the Verizon Center before home games. Ovie the Bulldog arrived in his buggy, Formula Ovie, to be a part of the festivities. After all, what Caps Fan Fest would be complete without this superfan? Unfortunately, the folks at the Iceplex didn’t quite see it that way and asked Ovie to leave—no dogs allowed. Fans were outraged, and many took to Twitter to voice their disapproval.

Ovie was resigned to hanging out by the elevator, meeting and greeting fans. Many stopped to have their picture taken with him or give him a friendly pet on the head. Some of the Red Rockers even stopped by for a photo op. Who knew Ovie was such a ladies’ man?

Despite getting the boot, Ovie the Bulldog was a big hit and had an enjoyable day at Fan Fest. Will he be at the Verizon Center this fall? “I’m sure, if the weather is good, I’ll be outside on the pavement,” Ovie tweeted. “If my ego recovers from today’s ejection. ;)”
