Meet Caps Caricaturist Paul Nichols

Meet D.C. sports fan Paul Nichols, an artist who often draws caricatures during games and tweets out the finished product even before the winner is determined. Nichols draws Capitals, Nats, Wizards and Redskins and even has four of his pictures hanging on the wall at the Greene Turtle at Verizon Center.

“I’ve been a Caps fan since the first season. Went to plenty of games at the old Cap Centre. Worked at a gas station nearby in the mid 80’s and met a lot of people – most notably David Poile – very nice guy. Mike Gartner came in to get gas also and I chatted with him. Very down to earth.”

Nichols, who owns a greeting card company, Trade Greetings Inc, grew up in PG County but now lives just over the Maryland line in Pa.

“Some of the sketches I do while watching a game,” he said, such as Mike Green after scoring a goal, the Caps winning the Southeast Division, or Mike Milbury crying or something else.
