Chimera Talks About ‘Coach Halpern’

Along with other Capitals, Jason Chimera answered questions from Caps reporter Mike Vogel on Tuesday, revealing some details of how he and other players spent the lockout. According to Chimera, two-time former Cap and current N.Y. Ranger, Jeff Halpern, ran many of the drills and helped keep other players who participated, like John Carlson and Jay Beagle, in shape during the time off.

Considering the track record of former captains becoming coaches (Dale Hunter and Adam Oates being the last two), Chimera says he won’t find it too surprising if Halpern, 36, one day becomes a coach. With Halpern’s ties to the area and good relationship with the players and the team, perhaps one day Halpern will be a part of the organization. Let’s bet on it.

Also, if you watch the entire video, you’ll be treated to Chimera’s impression of Vogel.
