Movember Update: Week 1

Posted November 10, 2011

Week 1 by the Numbers:

Caps total fundraising to date: $4,351 (3rd in the NHL)

Caps biggest fundraiser: John Carlson, $1,639 (6th overall in the NHL)

NHL total fundraising to date: $67,328

NHL biggest fundraiser: Chris Shewfelt, $8,332 (Wondering who that is? Apparently he works for Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, the company that owns the Maple Leafs as well as other Toronto sports franchises.)

Week 1 Update:

One week into Movember, it’s easy to spot the beginnings of a few mustaches around the Caps locker room. But it may be a couple weeks before the dramatic mustaches start to appear. In fact, at this early stage it’s hard to tell the Movember participants from those who simply have neglected to shave for a few days. Take the case below — if these two guys went head to head, it would still be pretty tough to guess which was growing a ‘stache for Movember.

Matt Hendricks is participating in Movember. Note the early evidence of a mustache on his upper lip. (Photo by Nicole Weissman)

And Mike Knuble, as far as I know, is not participating in Movember. Note the similar amount of stubble. (Photo by Nicole Weissman)

I guess that means Matt Hendricks could use our help. To support him and the Caps in their Movember fundraising, visit his MoSpace and consider making a donation. For more information about Movember, visit http://us.movember.com.
