The Interview We’ve Been Waiting For: Jay Beagle

The Caps’ win streak? We’ve read about that already. Now let’s get back to the only player on the team with a fighting major this season: Jay Beagle.

It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Beags. He’s been ‘injured’ (not a concussion) since the Oct. 13th fight against Arron Asham of the Penguins, and the team hasn’t said much else. Other than Karl Alzner tweeting about him, there hasn’t been much to add.

Until today, when Mike Vogel caught up with him.

This interview, obviously, was about Beagle coming out of virtual hiding after 11 days. Getting knocked out cold was downright embarrassing, and he’s likely going to be remembered for that (along with Asham’s antics) for years to come. The only thing he can do now is hold his head back up high and keep working hard for playing time.

Beagle is well-liked and an all-around good guy. It’s a shame what happened. But hopefully now that he’s spoken about it, he’ll put it behind him and score more goals like he did against Montreal last season.

Best of luck, Beags.
