Worst Caps Jersey Ever

AUTHOR: | IN: Random Jersey | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

God bless the NHL and its attempts at generating revenue. While surfing my favorite website for cheap jerseys, I found this. According to the NHL, these are called the Black Ice Collection. They made these jerseys for a few players, including Ryan Miller, Ryan Kesler, Jonathan Toews, and our beloved captain. This is by far the worst thing I’ve seen the NHL put out in recent memory. Call me old-fashioned, but jerseys are a symbol of pride. I wear my Alex Ovechkin Winter Classic jersey as often as I can, to announce to everyone that I love my team and that [...]

Nine Things You Need to Know: Training Camp Day 2

AUTHOR: | IN: Recap | COMMENTS: None Yet

With the boys back in D.C., here’s what happened on day two of training camp: Joel Ward had a hard time keeping up with linemates Chris Bourque and Mathieu Perreault. Then again, he does have about half a foot on both of them. The reason for Michal Neuvirth‘s change in pads color is merely because he “wants to rock the red.” Alexander Semin doled out a lot of hugs today. He also gave a rare all-English interview. Could the world be ending? Dmitri Orlov has been separated from the rest of the Russian herd. While Group A was practicing, he [...]

Around the NHL in 30 Days: N.Y. Islanders

AUTHOR: | IN: Preview | COMMENTS: None Yet

Caps fans can find a bit of vindication that the New York Islanders are terrible. After years of losing to them in the playoffs, this past decade hasn’t been nice to that team, mainly due to the ownership of Charles Wang and the incompetence of former general manager Mike Milbury. Despite that, the folks over at Fansided’s Eye on Isles wrote an epic preview for the coming season. Check it out.

New Ovie Sculpture: What Is McFarlane Thinking?

AUTHOR: | IN: Stuff | COMMENTS: None Yet

Cheap sculpture king Todd McFarlane is at it again, producing yet another Alex Ovechkin statue in the upcoming NHL Canadian Tire Series 2 (whatever that means), making the Great 8 look dumber than ever. This version, like others, does not have a tinted face shield. It ignores his recent sponsorship with Gillette by including his scruffy-looking facial hair. And, it has him wearing his CCM gear instead of his new Bauer gear (which likely happened because the prototypes, and perhaps the entire line, were put out before that announcement… but still, we want to get picky). They could’ve put him [...]

Around the NHL in 30 Days: Montreal Habs

AUTHOR: | IN: Preview | COMMENTS: None Yet

As a Caps fan, I’m still in shock about the series a couple of years ago when the Montreal Canadiens came back from a 3-1 series deficit and defeated the top-seeded Capitals in the first round. Somehow, that stings worse than the 4-0 series loss to Tampa Bay last year. Maybe it’s because the Caps clearly weren’t the better team against Tampa, while a single player – Jaroslav Halák – doomed the Caps against Montreal. Well, Halák was gone from Montreal last season and the Habs had a better regular season than the year prior, yet lost in the first [...]
