Goodbye, 105.9 The Edge
On September 19th, 2011, 105.9 The Edge, a classic rock station, was turned into a Republican News station. Now I know many are thinking, “Why does this matter?” Well, it matters because the crew of 105.9 The Edge were huge supporters of the Washington Capitals.
The Kirk and Mike Morning Show had Bruce Boudreau on regularly once a week during the season, plus they also had Wes Johnson record an intro. Craig Laughlin and Matt Hendricks were guests on the show this past season. DJs Suzie Ansillio and Cerphe Colwell were very supportive of the team as well. And if people still remember Boudreau’s comments about Madison Square Garden and how it nowhere compares to the loudness of the Verizon Center, it happened on Kirk and Mike’s show. Then there was the epic NO MSG! Party that was done on the day of Game 5 against the New York Rangers.
The loss of 105.9 The Edge is a loss to the CapsNation. We lose a radio station that loved the Capitals and always made its support of the team known on the airwaves. So to Kirk McEwen, Mike O’Meara, Suzie Ansillio, Cerphe Colwell, Jeff Shamrock, and everyone else at 105.9 The Edge, I personally would like to say thank you for your love and support of the Washington Capitals, and I hope you all continue to Rock the Red wherever you guys end up at.
