Fake Recap of the Caps Winning the Stanley Cup
After 37 years of futility, the Washington Capitals finally brought the Stanley Cup to Washington, DC. And in true Caps fashion, they did it in seven games. Let’s take a look back at that incredible victory.
Portrait of Conn Smythe Winner Tim Thomas
Perhaps Caps Outsider reader Que-ink has a crystal ball when it comes to drawing portraits of winners, because it was only back in April when she completed her portrait of Boston goaltender Tim Thomas, who just won the Conn Smythe after the Bruins beat the Vancouver Canucks in seven games to win the Stanley Cup. With any luck, the Caps she drew, Alex Semin, Michal Neuvirth and Nick Backstrom, will also one day win awards in the playoffs. See all of her portraits on the site Tegaki, where she’s drawn several hockey players. Que-ink is also willing to draw for [...]
Awesome Caps Artwork on Clothing
Justine Kenney is one of a few talented artists we’ve met recently who is passionate about the Caps and has a portfolio of designs to prove it. Her weapon of choice is fabric paint, which she started using in college and hasn’t stopped since. The following images are just scratching the surface of designs she’s made, which also include other teams and sports. See more on her site, dreambig99.livejournal.com.
Happy Birthday, Matt Bradley!
Capitals forward and fan favorite Matt Bradley, of Sittsville, Ontario, is 33 today. Check out Bradley’s interview for Capitals Outsider and Gunaxin.com.
Michal Neuvirth Highlight Video
Here’s a fairly well-produced Michal Neuvirth highlight video that someone put on Youtube recently. It’s certainly worth a watch if you’re a Neuvirth fan who also likes the band Senses Fail. Also, if you haven’t seen it, take a look at Neuvirth’s portrait that Caps Outsider reader Que-ink recently unveiled.
More Capitals Bobbleheads
As fellow Capitals Outsider writer Ben Sumner has pointed out, the D.C. United are a bit lacking when it comes to their history of Washington Sports Bobbleheads. Ben has broached the subject in the past, but he’s missing plenty as well. While I don’t have a complete collection by any stretch of the imagination, I do probably have more than is reasonable. So there they are above, my Capitals bobbleheads. Close-ups with players labeled follows after the jump.

@karlalzner: Please Change Your Twitter Avatar!
Capitals defenseman Karl Alzner is one of the most likable players in the locker room. He is always friendly to the media, including Caps Outsider, and regularly gives fans a peek into his life on Twitter. Maybe he has a self-deprecating sense of humor about hockey teams losing in the playoffs, or maybe this avatar is a genuine look into his offseason interests. Whatever the case may be, we ask him kindly: Golf sucks and please change it back to hockey, Karl! UPDATE: Alzner responded on Twitter: I like golf, and my avatar. Will not be changing until I take [...]
