If there’s anything good that came out of Monday’s 3-2 loss it’s that the Capitals outshot Phoenix 31-18. Yes, folks, we’ve resorted to celebrating shot differentials after yet another loss. Click on the box score for a larger version.

Washington fans should know that after Saturday’s 4-1 loss to L.A. (which proved that the King’s have gotten over their jet lag since the start time was really 9:30 a.m. for them), the Capitals held a players-only meeting in the locker room. Seems they’ve been down that road before recently, and we’ll soon see if anything comes of it on the upcoming road trip. Click on the box score for a larger version, and see D.J. Don’t get too excited, it’s not really happening, but that won’t stop us from having some fun and casting the movie version of The Winter Classic 2011. The Capitals – and seemingly everyone else – disputed that the hit was intentional, as video replays showed that Crosby turned into Steckel and Steckel didn’t make any motion to hit Crosby. But that’s not the point. From the Penguins’ point of view, Steckel’s hit, accidental or not, had to be avenged. [...]
