Broomball at the Verizon Center

I find that the locker-room can be a sullen place after a loss like the Capitals suffered tonight. So rather then battle beat reporters looking for some quotes to fill their story, I decided instead to stick around the ice in anticipation of post-game festivities. I caught wind via Twitter that Boston University and UMass Amherst would be battling in an epic Broomball match after the Capitals vs. Bruins game, and I wasn’t about to miss that.

Sadly this was a friendly competition amongst Alumni associations, instead of a sanctioned Division I NCAA competition. The Capitals host events like this throughout the season, in conjunction with its Group Ticket Sales program. I caught a bit of video of the action, so if you ever wondered what took place on the Ice after the Caps are done cutting it up, here yah go :
