New Acela Club Restaurant Row Ledge Seating

by News

We just received notice (as I’m sure all season ticket holders did) that the Capitals will be offering a new seating option this season. They are remodeling the Acela Club to offer additional season ticket options. The text from the e-mail is after the jump :

Upon the announcement of Monumental Sports purchasing the Verizon Center, we have spent countless hours attempting to find space to offer our fans the opportunity to become season ticket holders for the 2010-11 Season. We have located space on the club level that we are converting into full season ticket locations. The first and second rows of the Acela Club are being redesigned and upgraded into season ticket locations for purchase for the full 2010-11 season.

The Acela Club Restaurant Row Ledge Seating will allow you to enjoy the ease of early access, inclusive food and beverage, and guaranteed seat locations for every Washington Capitals home game. As a Caps full season ticket holder, this newly designed product is being offered to you through this email prior to our partial plan holders, full season deposit holders and the general public.

Capitals VIP Seat Holder Benefits

  • Guaranteed giveaways – All VIP seat holders will receive all promotional giveaway items upon request.

Pricing

  • $6,500/seat – Row 1 Seating
  • $5,500/seat – Row 2 Cocktail Seating

For the 2nd Row, that works out to $134.15 per ticket (I exclude the pre-season when I do math, and just divide by 41) and fairly tempting considering it includes parking, dinner, and soda. Seems like it would be a good way to enjoy an exciting season in style.

** UPDATE ** I actually decided to buy a pair of these tickets, and they are great. If you are interested in attending a game in style, let me know, as I have a few games that I’ll need to sell as the season progresses.

I have never been to a hockey game and have two tickets for tonight game, in the Acela Section. The Capitals vs The Calgary Flames at 7:00pm. I'am trying to unload these tickets.

This phoney 'fan freindly' image that leonis has began to unravel for me last year during the Blizzard Games, I am a disaablled vet living in Va Beach, hockey fan for 30 years, and I make it to about 20 games a year. Last year I spent about 600 bucks to get three good seats to take my 2 grandkids to the Penguin game. Naturally no way I could drive during that weekend. I would have just chalked it up to bad luck but for the fact on TV the mayor and commisioner of DC told everyone not to even attempt to get downtown in DC, it was not safe, and endangered responers who had to be there. I could not believe they played the game, but when I called and asked about some kind of compensation I was treated pretty rudly. I will get the kids to a game this year, can't afford Penguin games, they love OV, (7 and 4) but after this little fiasco once OV leaves they told me they are switching to my team the blackhawks Renforced this with the huge ticket price raises, (one playoff series victory in 3 years with this talented a team tells Leonis the fans ain't been paying enough for seats!!) This is really a fun entertaining team to watch, but as a person already said, you would think the team was run by Dan Snyder.

I agree..I was at the game last night and I can tell you the Acela club is completely changed. You can no longer see the game at all from the bar area or where you could enjoy a meal. You have to basically hope a season ticket holder doesn’t show up so you can watch where they would be sitting..HORRIBLE.I am very disappointed in what has become my favorite place to hang at games. I guess this is expected when you start winning and making more money.

I saw the new acela club and am VERY disappointed. the back row of seats (barstools) now replace the low chairs and block former clear view of the ice that acela patrons used to enjoy. essentially, it’s just a way to putin more seats to make money- which is ofcourse ted’s prerogative, but for me (&the rest of the club seat/suite owners) this greatly diminishes the acela club/level. the acela club used to be a place where you to get together with friends that you aren’t seated next to, and still enjoy seeing the ice, and perhaps enjoy dinner&drinks.I realize that now that the new seats are already sold, nothing can be done about this- (short of recanting the seats so people in the acela club can again enjoy seeing actual ice/court) What’s done us done, but I can’t say that I’m not very disappointed

For the FIRST time ever, I'm upset with Ted Leonsis. I thought it would be great for the club level when it became consolidated with the rest of the verizon center (RIP Abe Pollin) , but this move to pack in more seats in the acela club eliminating the view of anyone not sitting in those seats really sticks it to the rest of the club seat owners, and will greatly diminish what i have come to enjoy about being a club seat owner. It's something that i'd expect from Dan Snyder..
Without the view, the acela club might as well be the dewars club.
