Capitals Treated like Rock Stars

rock_the_red1It began with a video featuring the Washington Capitals young stars performing on stage to a throng of passionate fans. The intro video for the Caps this season was a symbol for rocking the red, and a team of young stars. Fast forward to the Game 7 victory this evening, and the scene I encountered when I left the arena. A couple dozen Capitals fans waiting outside the players garage for a glimpse of their favorite stars as they exited in their fancy cars. Photos after the jump.

First came General Manager George Mcphee, who has often been criticized in his tenure here in D.C., but those critics have been silenced in recent years.

Then came Mike Green, who even stopped to sign autographs with the “groupies”, complete with his mohawk.

capitals_vehicles-4….and finally the coach, who managed to turn this team around last season. He made the ballsy move to bench Jose Theodore, and go with the unproven rookie Varlamov. What bigger coaching decision is there in the playoffs? He deserves the Rock Star treatment as well, don’t you think?

capitals_vehicles-5I can only imagine how this scene will grow as the Capitals continue to advance through the playoffs. Rock on Capitals.
